Veterinary Technician/Nurse

Our AAHA accredited veterinary hospital is seeking a skilled, experienced and caring Veterinary Technician/Nurse to provide assistance to the Veterinarians of the hospital in the medical care of its feline and canine patients.
This is a full-time position that includes weekends, evenings and holidays.

We are looking for service minded individuals with knowledge in general small animal medicine and emergencies.
The right candidate should have at least three (3) years of experience assisting Veterinarians with patient care and medical treatments including:
Medication dosages and administration, vaccine administration, acquiring laboratory samples and processing in-house lab samples, anesthesia induction, IV catheter placement, monitoring anesthesia for surgical procedures, surgical preparation, hospitalized patient care, wound care, emergency care, restraint, laser therapy, digital radiology familiarity, euthanasia protocols.

Must possess the ability to communicate effectively with pet owners and medical staff. Must be able to use Windows based computer systems, word processing, email, web search and type at least 25 words per minute. Basic math and writing skills are necessary. Safely lifting 30 to 50 pounds and proper ability to restraint animals are required as well.

Key Competencies for the job require verbal and written Communication skills (English/Spanish preferred) including knowledge of medical terminology, professional personal presentation, client service principles and practices, information management, organization abilities, attention to detail, initiative, and reliability, compassion & stress tolerance.

Salary: Open. Commensurate with experience and/or certification.

Type & Experience Level: Full Time - One to seven years

Function: Vet Technician/Nurse

Education: A minimum of a High School Degree or G.E.D. is required. Some College, CVT, LVT preferred or 3-5 years' experience working in the veterinary field.
